VHS Tapes to Digital

Bring your home videos, family celebrations, old performances, and other personal VHS recordings into a format you can watch and share today. I transfer playable VHS tapes to digital video files, with personal attention from start to finish.

Have tapes ready to convert? Email Ed for a quote.

What’s included

  • Transfer of your playable VHS recording to an MP4 video file.
  • Picture and sound checks, plus basic trimming at the beginning and end.
  • Digital delivery by download, or a USB drive by arrangement.
  • Your original tapes returned after the transfer.

How it works

  1. Tell me about your tapes. Send the tape count, approximate recording lengths if known, and any playback issues. Tell me whether you want a straightforward transfer or additional editing.
  2. Agree on the details. I’ll confirm the quote, expected turnaround, delivery method, and how to get the tapes to me before you send anything.
  3. Receive your digital videos. I’ll capture and check the recordings, prepare your files, and arrange the return of your original tapes.

Optional editing & audio cleanup

Want shorter clips, unwanted sections removed, more even sound levels, or attention to noisy audio? We can discuss those additions separately. The original recording and tape condition determine what improvements are possible; I’ll explain the options before we agree on extra work.

Pricing & tape formats

Quotes depend on the number of tapes, recording lengths, tape condition, and any requested extras. USB drives and shipping, when needed, are included in the agreed quote. Pricing and turnaround are confirmed before work begins.

This service starts with standard VHS tapes. If you have VHS-C or another tape format, ask first so I can confirm whether I can handle it. Transfers preserve the quality available on the source tape; results depend on the original recording and how well it plays.
